Who we are

At PITESA we have been turning experience into innovation for decades. Our history stems from a passion for optimising farm resources and offering sustainable solutions for animal feed. Through research and continuous improvement, we have turned such a traditional product as cereal straw into a feed with high nutritional value, efficient and environmentally friendly.

About Pitesa

Sector benchmarks

Don Teodoro Casado, founder and main shareholder of PITESA, began his career in the animal feed sector at the beginning of the 1960s, when he built his first compound feed factory, PIENSOS TECA, in Zamarramala (Segovia).

In 1975 it finished building its second plant in Trujillo (Cáceres), another compound feed factory for animal feed, specialising mainly in ruminants, although over the years it also specialised in other species (Iberian pigs, poultry, etc.).

Due to his extensive experience in the ruminant feed sector, he was aware of the lack of DIGESTIBLE FIBRE on the market, necessary for animal feed, especially for ruminants, but also for monogastric animals, and in 1986 he started the PITESA project in Tordesillas (Valladolid).

At PITESA, several granulation tests were carried out with different forages and additives, and after carrying out several analytical tests and observing the animals' ingestion behaviour, it was found that cereal straw (barley and wheat), hydrolysed with NaOH, was the product that provided the most digestible FIBRAN for the animals, as shown in the main veterinary studies on animal feed.

PITESA currently has a production capacity of 220 tonnes per day, but we are still growing and trying to improve.
